Yogurt Beach, the frozen yogurt and custard shop will close July 2 after 14 years in south Naperville.
The landlord declined to renew the shop's lease.
The business announced the closure in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 16, saying it "was not given a viable option to remain in our space." Management confirmed the lease situation to NCTV17 but declined to name a specific reason beyond the landlord's decision. The landlord did not respond to NCTV17's request for comment.
Yogurt Beach said it is actively exploring a new location in the Naperville area. Management told NCTV17 it expects to reopen in early 2027 but would not disclose where.
On its website, the shop posted a farewell message thanking "every family, every team, every teacher and every neighbor who made our beach feel like home."
Online, Naperville residents are trying to cope with the business closure.
"My kids are so sad! It was the one place we could go where we could make the whole family happy, including my 7 year old who doesn’t like ice cream," a Facebook user said.
Some people are advocating for Plainfield to be the new location.
"Noooo!! Just had my daughter’s birthday there this is her favorite place. Please explore options in Plainfield we would love for you guys to stay local," one person said on Facebook.
"Come to north Plainfield there are a lot of open places," one person also commented.
Customers can sign up for email updates about the relocation at yogurtbeach-il.com before the shop's final day of service Thursday, July 2.
