Commissioner Leslie Ruffing will continue leading the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners after being re-elected president at the board's annual officer election on Thursday, June 11.

Commissioner Rhonda Ansier was also re-elected vice president. Both begin second terms in their respective roles, according to the district's official X account.

Ruffing and Ansier will oversee a period of major capital spending after voters approved a $120 million bond referendum in March. That money will fund a $119 million activity center at Frontier Sports Complex on Naperville's south side and the acquisition of 5.7 acres adjacent to Walnut Ridge Park and 6.5 acres to expand Heritage Woods.

No vote count or details about the nominating process were included in the announcement. The board also operates under a $55.2 million budget for 2026 that includes $14 million in capital improvements.

Groundbreaking on the Frontier Sports Complex activity center is targeted for 2027, with an opening projected for 2029, according to district officials.

The open-space parcels are expected to be purchased in 2026 and opened to the public in 2027 after trail development and restoration work.
