Four women who train at North Central College in Naperville just won international medals for the United States.

On Friday, June 12, Taylor Graveman and Sydney Petzinger each won gold, while Sara Sterner and Claire DiCugno claimed silver at the U23 Pan-American Championships in Lima, Peru. The four competed for Team USA under the Cardinal Wrestling Club banner, helping the Americans capture the team championship title.

Graveman went 4-0 at 72 kg, finishing with a 10-0 technical fall over Canada's Taebyn Tulp to clinch gold. Petzinger, who graduated from NCC in 2025, matched that perfect record at 53 kg, beating Puerto Rico's Shammilka Miranda Diaz 6-1 in the final.

Sterner took silver at 57 kg with a 3-1 record, her only loss a 7-2 decision to Canada's Gabriela Cross. She pinned Peru's Ariana Saenz Abanto in 20 seconds. DiCugno earned silver at 62 kg, also going 3-1.

The results cap a dominant 2025-26 season for head coach Joe Norton's program. NCC finished third at the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships in March, produced seven All-Americans, and led all women's wrestling programs nationally with a 3.90 team GPA.

Norton won the inaugural NCAA Women's National Coach of the Year award. The Cardinals also captured the NWCA National Duals title, upsetting No. 1 Iowa 23-21 and No. 2 McKendree 21-18.

The Cardinal Wrestling Club allows NCC graduates like Petzinger to continue training and competing internationally alongside current team members like Graveman, Sterner, and DiCugno.

NCC freshman Jael Miller, who finished as runner-up at USA Wrestling Nationals in April, will compete at the U20 Pan-American Championship for Team USA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday, July 10.
