Twenty-four hand-painted dog sculptures and one cat line the sidewalks of Downtown Naperville through the summer, and residents can vote for their favorite online through Saturday, August 29.

The Downtown Naperville Alliance's Dog Days of Summer 2026 is a free, self-guided sculpture walk stretching along Main Street, Water Street, Jefferson Avenue, and the Naperville Riverwalk. The loop takes under an hour on foot. Each sculpture is sponsored by a local business and painted by a local artist, so no two look alike.

The 2026 edition expanded from 18 duck sculptures in 2025 to 25 total pieces, all with a canine theme (plus one feline outlier). The sculptures have been on display since early June.

Among the installations: "Valentino," a Giant Schnauzer painted by local artist Patricia Melekus to resemble the real-life office dog of The Dan Firks Team at Coldwell Banker. The real Valentino is known around downtown for riding with his head out the window of a black Ford Expedition. Naper Settlement hosts "Fife the Fido" outside its Birck Family Innovation Gateway, painted by artist David Gray. Visit and Dine Naperville sponsored "Hap," painted by Naperville artist Sydney Meluch.

People are responding on social media to the colorful pups.

"They are making summer more colorful," one person posted on Instagram.

"STOP IT RN," another person commented.

"Oh my gosh!!!!," a local influencer responded.

People's Choice voting is open at downtownnaperville.com/sculptures through Saturday, August 29. Each sculpture has a vote button on the page, and voting is limited to one vote per IP address. Winners will be announced Friday, September 4.

The walk is free, family-friendly, and dog-friendly. An interactive map of all sculpture locations is available on the same page.
