Commuters who use the north entrance at the downtown Naperville Metra station on 4th Avenue should plan extra time starting Monday, July 20. City crews are repairing bricks on the station's north exterior wall, and the north doors will close at times during the work.

The project at 105 E. 4th Ave. runs 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The city estimates two weeks, weather permitting, putting the expected completion around Friday, July 31.

When the north doors are closed, riders can enter through the east and west doors instead.

Tunnel narrowing on one day

Crews will also perform ceiling repairs inside the commuter tunnel beneath the station on a single day during the two-week project. The city has not announced which day. The tunnel will stay open, but temporary barriers and directional signs will narrow the walkway. The city advises extra time near work zones.
