Naperville North's winter sports season is underway.

Boys Bowling, Competitive Cheer, Competitive Dance and Girls Wrestling all opened practice Monday, Oct. 26, marking the official start of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) winter calendar for those four programs.

The Huskies' athletics department announced the kickoff on X, tagging accounts for each program and the Naperville North boosters.

The Oct. 26 start date applies statewide. According to a Bowl815 Facebook post promoting IHSA bowling, the boys' bowling season begins Oct. 26 and the girls' season follows Nov. 16.

Many Illinois high school bowling programs carry a no-cut policy, meaning students can join without prior experience.

Girls Wrestling, Competitive Cheer and Competitive Dance share the same Oct. 26 IHSA start date, according to official calendar dates posted by East Aurora's athletics department on Instagram.

These four sports are the first wave of the Huskies' winter lineup. More DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) action follows soon: Girls Basketball opens Nov. 2, with Boys Basketball, Boys Wrestling and Girls Bowling starting Nov. 9.

Schedules, rosters and coaching staff for the four programs that opened Monday have not been publicly released. Families can contact the Naperville North athletics office for details.
