Naperville voters will pick their next mayor and fill four City Council seats next spring, and the candidate field is now locked in.
Mayor Scott Wehrli will face City Council member Benjamin "Benny" White in a two-candidate race for the city's top office. Eight candidates, including three incumbents, are competing for the four council seats, NCTV17 reported. The filing period closed earlier this month.
Ballot-order lotteries for both races are scheduled for noon Monday, Nov. 2.
Mayor's race
Wehrli, a first-term mayor, will see his name drawn against White's in a lottery Monday to determine who appears first on the ballot. The two are the only candidates who filed for the office.
Council race: eight candidates, four seats
Three sitting council members are running to keep their seats. Council members Supna Jain, Josh McBroom and Nathan Wilson will face five challengers: Staci Boyer, Laurie Donahue, Kristine O'Neill Gericke, Marc Willensky and Michael Christin.
Ballot placement will be sorted through two lotteries, both at noon Monday.
Five candidates filed their petitions simultaneously at 8 a.m. on the first day of the filing period: Boyer, Donahue, Jain, O'Neill Gericke and Willensky. Their lottery will decide who is listed first on the ballot.
A second lottery between McBroom and Christin will determine who is listed last. Wilson is the only council candidate whose position is already set. He will appear sixth on the ballot.
All candidates have until Election Day, April 6, to campaign.
