Your kids can dress-up in costume at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, your teen can build a beaded spider, and you can explore Illinois' most famous graves. Naperville Public Library has packed all three branches and two outdoor venues with Halloween and fall programming running through Oct. 31.

The lineup, first detailed in the Chicago Tribune, includes eight distinct programs at Nichols Library (200 W. Jefferson Ave.), Naper Blvd. Library (2035 S. Naper Blvd.) and 95th Street Library (3015 Cedar Glade Dr.).

The month opens Thursday, Oct. 1, with two programs running at once. Lecturer John Kokoris leads "Great Graves of Illinois" at 1 p.m. at the 95th Street Library, exploring the gravesites and monuments of the state's most famous residents. At Nichols Library, also at 1 p.m., the first session of "Spooky Ghost Candle Cover" lets adults make a ghost tea light topper from air-dry clay and dried flowers. That craft repeats Oct. 15 at 95th Street (5 p.m.) and Oct. 20 at Naper Blvd. (1 p.m.).

Teens get their own track. "Teen DIY: Beaded Spiders," where participants build a spider from beads and wire, runs Oct. 6 at Nichols, Oct. 22 at 95th Street and Oct. 28 at Naper Blvd. All sessions start at 4 p.m.

For the youngest visitors, "Frankenscience" pairs a storytime with a monster-building engineering challenge for ages 3 to 5 with a grownup. Sessions run Oct. 14 at Naper Blvd. (1 p.m.), Oct. 21 at 95th Street (11:30 a.m.) and Oct. 29 at Nichols (9:15 a.m.).

Two mid-month lectures anchor the adult calendar. "Fear and the Salem Witch Trials" on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at 95th Street Library examines the 1692 panic, exploring how suspicion escalated a local crisis into tragedy. Adults can also try "Crafternoon: Book Witch," folding book pages into a witch shape, at sessions Oct. 8 at 95th Street, Oct. 13 at Nichols and Oct. 28 at Naper Blvd.

Families can mark "Naperville Plays" on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 95th Street Library. The hands-on event brings together Naper Settlement (523 S. Webster St.), DuPage Children's Museum (301 N. Washington St.), Knoch Knolls Nature Center (320 Knoch Knolls Road) and the library under a "Fall Harvest" theme.

The month closes outdoors. Nichols Library hosts an Outdoor Halloween Storytime at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Riverwalk Amphitheater. On Halloween afternoon, 95th Street Library holds its own at 1 p.m. at the Wagner Family Pavilion. Both feature stories, songs and a puppet show. Costumes encouraged.
