Artists have until Saturday, Oct. 31, to submit original work for a free public exhibition honoring veterans, active military members and first responders.

The Naperville Art League's "Heroes" show opens Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Naperville Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 N. Center St., and runs through Friday, Nov. 13. The exhibition spans Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.

There is no fee to enter. NAL members may submit up to two pieces. Non-members may submit one. A Viewers' Choice award will be the only prize, and artists may put their work up for sale.

The show honors veterans and first responders through original visual art, according to Positively Naperville.

Two-dimensional work must be securely backed and framed. Saw-tooth hangers, wires stapled to frames and wires attached to spring clips are not accepted. Unframed gallery-wrap canvases should be painted on all edges. A liability waiver applies.

Artists can drop off work during regular gallery hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Handicap parking is available at the rear of the building. For questions, call (630) 355-2530 or email [email protected].

The gallery also hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, Oct. 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. That event is open to all.
