Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash on Warrenville Road

A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Woodstock was killed Tuesday night after his bike struck a pickup truck pulling onto East Warrenville Road near North Washington Street. The crash closed the commercial corridor in both directions for roughly four and a half hours while investigators worked the scene.

The collision happened at approximately 11:17 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, when the eastbound motorcycle hit a black 2007 Ford F-150 making a left-hand turn onto westbound Warrenville Road from a private drive on the south side of the street, according to the Naperville Police Department.

Officers found the motorcyclist unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old woman from Woodstock riding as a passenger on the yellow 2003 Honda motorcycle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the F-150, a 20-year-old man from West Chicago, was evaluated at the scene and refused medical treatment.

Both the victim and his passenger had traveled from Woodstock, roughly 50 miles northwest of Naperville. The pickup truck driver lives in West Chicago, about 10 miles north.

Scene

When officers arrived, the pickup truck sat east of the intersection with heavy damage to its front left quarter panel. The motorcycle was lying on its side next to the truck with significant damage.

Road closure

Warrenville Road was closed in both directions from Washington Street east to Lucent Lane until approximately 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, according to WGN TV. The department's Traffic Unit, which handles fatal crash investigations, conducted the on-scene work. The closed stretch runs through an area of office and business park properties along the corridor.
