Logan Gregorio went from Waubonsie Valley High School to the SEC. Now the Naperville catcher has his first professional baseball contract.

The Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League, an MLB Professional Partner League, signed Gregorio after an injury opened a roster spot, NCTV17 reported. The 2022 Waubonsie Valley graduate joined a team that plays at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg, roughly 30 miles from where he grew up.

"They ended up having an injury … they ended up needing a catcher and an outfielder. So Jamie, the head coach, called my number and we were able to get something organized where I joined the team, and it's been cool," Gregorio said, referring to Boomers head coach Jamie Bennett.

The signing caps a four-year climb through three college programs. Gregorio started at Benedictine University in Lisle, a Division III school, following a family path. His father and older brothers Cole and Luke all played D-III baseball at North Central College. He earned back-to-back All-American honors with the Eagles before transferring to Northern Illinois University for his junior season in 2025.

At NIU, Gregorio started all 54 games behind the plate and led the Huskies in batting average (.332), doubles (19), home runs (18) and RBI (69). He earned ABCA/Rawlings Midwest All-Region Second Team honors after that breakout year.

That performance landed him at Auburn University for his senior season. He appeared in 25 games for the Tigers, who won a regional championship and reached the Super Regionals before Ole Miss eliminated them.

Before any of it, Gregorio helped Waubonsie Valley win its first DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) championship in program history as a senior in 2022. He has since suited up for three schools and nine baseball teams.

Gregorio is on the Boomers' injured list, and no return timeline has been announced. The Boomers open the Frontier League Wild Card Round against the Evansville Otters on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6:35 p.m. at Bosse Field in Evansville. Games 2 and 3, if necessary, shift to Wintrust Field on Friday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
