Jayden Reed walked the same sidelines he once played on as a Metea Valley Mustang. The weekend of July 19–20, the Green Bay Packers wide receiver came home to coach 150 young football players at the second annual I'Marion Stewart Youth Football Camp at Bolingbrook High School.

"Man, I just always want to give back to the youth," Reed told NCTV17. "Growing up, I looked up to the older guys. And, you know, the people that I looked up to helped me get to where I wanted to go."

Reed, who played his freshman through junior seasons at Metea Valley High School before transferring to Naperville Central for a record-setting senior year, was joined by New York Giants defensive back Greg Newsome II, Indianapolis Colts defensive back Cam Mitchell, and camp organizer I'Marion Stewart. Stewart, a Bolingbrook native entering his junior season at the University of Michigan, connected the group through their shared ties to the Midwest Boom 7-on-7 program.

The Naperville-area roots run deep. Reed and Newsome competed head-to-head in 2015 and 2016 when Reed suited up for the Mustangs and Newsome played at Glenbard North in Carol Stream. They met again in college in 2020. Mitchell, a Bolingbrook graduate, played at Northwestern before the Cleveland Browns drafted him in the fifth round in 2023. He now plays for the Colts.

Reed signed a three-year, $50.25 million extension with Green Bay in April 2026. Over 40 career games he has 138 catches for 1,857 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.

But the weekend wasn't about contracts. The camp fell on the final weekend before NFL training camps opened, giving the pros one last stop at home.

Newsome told NCTV17 the goal was simple: show kids that NFL players are real people who grew up on the same fields. Stewart said he plans to keep the camp going after its second year.

Looking ahead: NCC football enters 2026 at No. 1

North Central College football enters the 2026 season ranked No. 1 in the D3football.com preseason poll for the fourth consecutive year, receiving all 25 first-place votes. That's the first unanimous preseason No. 1 selection since Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2014. The Cardinals extended their CCIW winning streak to a league-record 51 games in 2025 and made their fifth consecutive Stagg Bowl appearance. NCC opens Saturday, September 5, with a noon kickoff against No. 2 Bethel University at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium (310 E Benton Ave).
