Players who lace up for pickup basketball or reserve a tennis court at Nike Sports Complex on West Diehl Road will get resurfaced courts, new goals and new nets once the Naperville Park District awards a renovation contract. The bid advertisement states the district anticipates awarding the contract in August.
Seven contractors have already pulled bid documents for the project, according to the plan holder list the Park District published Monday, July 20. Sealed bids are due by 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at the Park District Administration Building, 320 W. Jackson Ave., where they will be opened and read aloud.
What the project includes
The scope of work covers asphalt mill and overlay across the basketball and tennis court surfaces, fresh color coating and striping, installation of new basketball goals and tennis posts and nets, and landscape restoration around the courts.
Nike Sports Complex, at 288 W. Diehl Rd. along Mill Street between Diehl and Bauer roads, serves neighborhoods in north-central Naperville. The complex has eight lit tennis courts that double as pickleball courts, four dedicated pickleball courts, and basketball courts used by youth leagues and casual players.
Who's bidding
The seven companies on the plan holder list as of July 20 are John Keno and Company Inc., Sport Surface Pros LLC, Rabine, Troch-McNeil Paving Company Inc., ARC 1 Electric Inc., Obsidian Asphalt Paving, and Maneval Paving. Two plan rooms, PWXPress and ePlan, also hold documents.
The Park District has not published a project budget. No bid bond is required, but the winning contractor must post a surety bond for 100% of the contract amount before construction begins.

Bigger picture at Nike Sports Complex
This court renovation is separate from a larger site improvements project backed by a $600,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant the Park District received from the state on January 14. That OSLAD-funded project, which includes synthetic turf infields on three ballfields, a new 10-foot-wide asphalt loop trail, playground renovation, water play features, a challenge course, and native restoration areas, is planned for construction from late 2026 through 2028, according to Planning Director Eric Shutes's presentation at the Park District's Legislative Committee meeting on May 28.
The bid documents do not indicate whether the basketball and tennis court renovation draws from the same capital budget or a separate line item.
The Park District is also collecting public feedback on proposed 2027 capital improvement projects through Friday, July 31, at napervilleparks.org/parkandfacilityimprovements.
