Your kids can bounce on inflatables Saturday afternoon, and you can compete in a stein-holding contest and dance to '90s hits that night, all on Naper Settlement's 13-acre campus in downtown Naperville.
Naper Settlement's annual Oktoberfest returns Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at 523 S. Webster St. The two-night festival features live music, German food from local restaurants and food trucks, and a beer lineup that includes Hofbrau Oktoberfest, Shiner Oktoberfest, Alter Festbier, and Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. Tickets are on sale: $25 for adults, $15 for youth ages 4-12. Naper Settlement members and children under 4 get in free.
Friday night
Gates open at 5 p.m. Ed Wagner's Lustige Blaskapelle plays traditional German music from 5:30-7:30 p.m., followed by the Polkaholics from 8-10 p.m.
Saturday
Saturday opens earlier at 3 p.m. and packs in more programming. A children's area with inflatables by Chasers Laser Tag runs 3-7 p.m., making the afternoon window the sweet spot for families with younger kids. Freeze Dried plays 3-5 p.m., the stein-holding contest takes over from 5-5:30 p.m., and Whiskey Romance Band follows from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Chicago-based '90s cover band Fool House closes out the night from 8-10 p.m. The band, which played a prior Naper Settlement Oktoberfest, will perform their "Wow That's What I Call '90s Tour" set featuring music from NSYNC, Britney Spears, TLC, Blink-182, Spice Girls, and Madonna. Fool House is known for choreographed dance moves and high-energy stage shows.
Food and drink
The tent will serve bratwurst, schnitzel, pretzels, and doughnuts from local restaurants and food trucks. Wine drinkers can choose from Z. Alexander Brown Red Blend and Schmitt Söhne Riesling.
