Republican Jeff Walter faces Democratic incumbent Bill Foster for Illinois’ 11th Congressional District on November 3, 2026. DuPage County’s official listing confirms the contest.
Experience
In his submitted Surround Sound Media questionnaire, Walter identified himself as Elburn’s mayor in his third term and a former village trustee. He described 22 years of Navy service, retiring as a master chief petty officer, and leadership work in manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications and technology.
He listed a bachelor’s degree in finance, a master’s in manufacturing management and an MBA. “Washington needs more practical experience and common sense,” he wrote.
Congressional priorities
Walter named fiscal responsibility his top priority, supporting spending caps, program reviews and a path toward a balanced federal budget. On affordability, he proposed faster housing and energy permitting while preserving local zoning control.
His healthcare proposals include price transparency and changes to pharmacy-benefit-manager practices so savings reach patients. On immigration, he supports stronger border enforcement, faster asylum decisions and improvements to legal immigration pathways.
Walter said sustained military operations against Iran should require congressional authorization with clear objectives and an exit strategy. His energy proposals include nuclear power, domestic oil and gas and renewables where practical. These positions come from his submitted answers.
Responses are based on public data and answers to a Surround Sound Media questionnaire if they were provided.
