Whitfield Harrington Jr. is running for U.S. Senate in Illinois in the November 3, 2026, general election. The official DuPage County sample ballot lists him under the American Center Party, alongside Democrat Juliana Stratton and Republican Don Tracy.

Why he is running

In his submitted Surround Sound Media questionnaire, Harrington describes himself as an independent helping build the American Center Party. He says he wants practical leadership focused on household costs.

“Illinois families are paying more for everything and getting less,” he wrote. “I am running as an independent to govern from the center, not the extremes, and to help build the American Center Party.”

Experience

Harrington says he is a Chicago pastor who previously worked in banking and insurance and operated an insurance practice. He says he earned a political science degree at Delta State University and has not held elected or appointed public office.

Cost of living and healthcare

Harrington says his first bill would be a Family Affordability Act. He proposes requiring small-dollar mortgages for homes under $100,000, with the commission included in the loan; ending tariffs on food; and making the first year of community college free.

He also supports direct primary care, expanded health savings accounts and assistance for doctors opening clinics in underserved communities. These are his policy proposals, not enacted programs.

Spending, immigration and security

Harrington proposes redirecting 10% to 20% of defense spending on a two-year cycle toward domestic infrastructure and creating a Cabinet-level anti-fraud department.

On immigration, he favors border security tailored to each sector, deporting criminals, ending family separations and making legal entry easier. He says military deployments should have a clear mission, cost and exit plan approved by Congress.

The positions above come from his submitted questionnaire and are attributed to him.
