Democrat Paula Deacon Garcia faces Republican Patricia Kladis-Schiappa in the November 3, 2026 election for DuPage County Clerk. The county’s official candidate listing confirms both candidates.

Public-service background

According to her campaign biography, Garcia has represented County Board District 2 since 2020 and chairs the Finance Committee. Before joining the board, she worked for the Village of Lisle for 21 years, helping residents and businesses navigate permits, building codes and other municipal services.

Garcia has a communication/public-relations degree from Illinois State University and is a certified floodplain manager, her campaign says.

Clerk campaign priorities

Garcia’s current clerk platform focuses on integrity, transparency, dedication and collaboration. She calls for clear public access to election information, vital records, property-tax information and the office’s budget.

She says her first priority would be meeting the clerk’s staff to understand their strengths and working with other county departments. She argues that better cooperation would improve service and public trust. These proposals concern administration of the clerk’s office; her past County Board positions should not be mistaken for new powers held by the clerk.
