The elite races produced historic results. Kenya's Amos Kipruto won the men's title in 2:01:09, the second-fastest time recorded on U.S. soil. Ethiopia's Hawi Feysa defended her women's crown in 2:13:33, making her the fourth-fastest woman in marathon history. American Emma Grace Hurley set the U.S. women's debut record at 2:20:47 in her first marathon, and Clayton Young ran 2:05:23 to become the second-fastest American man ever.

Carey Pinkowski, the race's executive race director, said in a statement that the event featured record-level performances from elites and energy from the crowds across all 29 neighborhoods on the course.

Applications for the 2027 Chicago Marathon are open, with a deadline of 2 p.m. CT on Oct. 29. The 49th running is set for Oct. 10, 2027.
