The storefront at 808 Route 59 that went dark when The Matrix Club was evicted in February has a new sign out front.
Aura Club & Conventions, a 75,000-square-foot event venue, opened in September in the former Matrix Club space, according to NCTV17.
The venue features a grand ballroom that seats up to 2,200 guests, a theater, an art gallery, a recording sound lab, and dance and yoga studios.
Vice President Ajay Sunkara told NCTV17 the venue will also include a 300-seat restaurant run by chef Yanni Sanchez.
"It'll be the largest club and convention facility in the DuPage area," Sunkara said.
From eviction to reopening
The Matrix Club opened in September 2023 and hosted proms, galas and other large events before its landlord, building management company Project Naperville 808, filed an eviction complaint in DuPage County court on March 18, 2025.
The landlord alleged the business owed roughly $1.4 million in unpaid rent and construction-related expenses, according to NCTV17's February reporting.
A Matrix Club spokesperson disputed those claims, saying the eviction case moved forward without sufficient evidence.
An eviction order was filed Dec. 16, 2025, and The Matrix Club moved out of the building in February. The closure forced at least three local high school proms to scramble for new venues.
Sunkara, a co-owner of Project Naperville 808, said the landlords decided to run the venue themselves rather than lease to a new tenant.
About 50 events had been booked at The Matrix Club for 2026, with others scheduled through 2029, according to NCTV17's March coverage. The company retained some Matrix Club staff, including security personnel, event organizers and the production manager.
Early events draw crowds
Aura Club's first event was the Tricoci University Beauty Blitz on Sept. 12, which drew more than 800 guests and nearly 1,500 students, stylists and brand representatives.
The venue also hosted the Career & Networking Center's Dancing with the Celebrities on Sept. 17.
Cherryl Marcey, Aura Club's director of sales, said the venue has partnerships with local caterers Belgio's and My Chef Catering for event services.
Upcoming events include Dr. Kumar Vishwas "Apne Apne Ram" devotional on October 23. Naperville North High School Show Choir in November and NCTV17's The Morning Show fundraiser on Nov. 6.
